Carmel & Jimmy

A week after Siobhan and John's wedding, I was back in The Landmark again for Carmel & Jimmy's big day. This time I had Gerard Haughey with me, as Carmel & Jimmy had a special surprise planned for their guests. As well as having the benefit of a second photographer and all the extra coverage that brings, when we got back to the hotel Ger began downloading images and put together a fantastic slideshow of 150 pictures from the day which was shown on the big screens after dinner. When the lights came up there were people wiping their tears away all over the room. I haven't done a same-day slideshow before, but after this, I'm happy to do it again.

The day itself was great - I went to Carmel's, while Ger spent the morning with Jimmy and the boys. After the ceremony in Bornacoola, we stopped by the bridge in Drumsna, and caught the last of the beautiful warm evening sunlight. I've had experienced photographers tell me in the past "you must always shoot with the light, not against it", but I love to shoot into low sunlight, and get the flare and the glare and the sillhouettes and all that comes with it.

As Ger & I left The Landmark, the two mad lads from The Looney Hoppers were warming up for the evening and it promised to be a very lively night. Jimmy was looking just as relaxed and satisfied as he does in the last picture below. Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet and a beautiful new wife...
